Mexico buyers usually need west-coast port choice, VAT/duty exposure, and CFE/NOM document readiness before approving container orders. We prepare the buying file an EPC, distributor, or project owner needs before internal approval: landed-cost estimate, technical documents, compliance path, lead time, and container loading.
Mexico Solar Import FAQ
What certifications do solar panels need for Mexico?▼
Commercial/utility projects: IEC 61215 + IEC 61730 (our standard cert package). Residential/rooftop projects often require NOM-ENE-003-CONAGUA (local standard). For CFE interconnection under Generación Distribuida program, IEC + flash test certificates typically suffice. JUSTSOLAR provides full certificate bundle with every shipment.
Are there import duties or anti-dumping tariffs from China to Mexico?▼
Mexico currently has no anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar modules (unlike the USA which has Section 201/301). Standard import duty on solar modules is ~0-5% under Mexico's MFN tariff. VAT (IVA) is 16% on imports. Your customs broker handles nationalization.
How long does shipping take from Shanghai to Mexico?▼
Manzanillo (west coast): 28-32 days transit. Lázaro Cárdenas: 30-34 days. Veracruz/Altamira (east coast via Panama Canal): 45-50 days. Add 5-7 days factory production if no stock. Total lead time from order to Mexico port: 5-8 weeks typical.
What module wattage is most common in Mexico?▼
Commercial rooftop: TOPCon 600W (most popular, best $/W). Utility/ground-mount: 640W or 730W for higher power density and lower BOS/land costs. Industrial facilities: 600W-640W balance. We recommend: quote all three options — contractors price 640W best but 600W has lower shipping $/W.
Do you ship to Mexico under CIF or FOB?▼
Both. FOB Shanghai: you arrange freight through your forwarder. CIF Manzanillo/Lázaro/Veracruz: we contract ocean freight + marine insurance; you receive B/L at destination. Most first-time Mexican buyers prefer CIF for predictable total cost. CFR (no insurance) also available.
What payment terms do you offer Mexican buyers?▼
Payment terms are confirmed in the formal PI. For new Mexican buyers and most first orders, JUSTSOLAR uses 100% T/T before shipment. Any exception requires written approval from Frank and will be stated in the PI. USD-denominated always.
Who are your Mexican customers?▼
We supply EPCs (tens of MW commercial/industrial projects), distributors (statewide wholesale), and large end-user integrators in CDMX, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and border states. Currently active in 15+ Mexican states. Spanish-speaking support via Frank on WhatsApp.
