Brazil buyers usually need port choice, tax exposure, and certification route before they can approve a container order. We prepare the buying file an EPC, distributor, or project owner needs before internal approval: landed-cost estimate, technical documents, compliance path, lead time, and container loading.
Brazil Solar Import FAQ
Do I need INMETRO certification for solar panels in Brazil?▼
Depends on segment. Retail/residential rooftop (up to ~75kWp): INMETRO portaria 004/2011 required. Commercial/industrial (75kWp+): IEC 61215+61730 typically sufficient, verify with your local distributor (CEMIG, CPFL, Enel, etc.). Utility-scale (GC auctions): EPE compliance documents required. JUSTSOLAR provides both certification paths — tell us segment before ordering.
What's the import cost structure for solar panels into Brazil?▼
Import tax (II): currently 0% for solar modules (exempted for energia solar). PIS/COFINS: ~9.25%. ICMS varies by state (17-25%). IPI: 0% for modules. Total nationalization cost: ~25-35% on top of CIF value. Zona Franca de Manaus has significant tax reductions for industrial buyers.
Which Brazilian port is best?▼
For São Paulo/Southeast: Santos (principal but congested Q4) or Itapoá (growing hub, less congestion). For Northeast: Pecém (fastest, ~38-44 days). For South: Paranaguá or Itapoá. For Amazônia industrial projects: Manaus (Zona Franca benefits). We book based on your final destination and current port congestion.
Can I get modules faster through Pecém (Northeast)?▼
Yes — Pecém is the fastest Brazilian port from Shanghai (38-44 days vs 42-48 Santos). It's ideal for Bahia/Pernambuco/Ceará/Paraíba projects. BNB (Banco do Nordeste) finance is also more efficient from Pecém. For São Paulo or South Brazil, Pecém adds inland trucking cost — compare total delivered cost before choosing.
What payment terms for Brazilian buyers?▼
Payment terms are confirmed in the formal PI. For new Brazilian buyers and most first orders, JUSTSOLAR uses 100% T/T before shipment. Any exception requires written approval from Frank and will be stated in the PI. We quote in USD always — conversion to BRL at your bank.
Is Brazil's GD market (distributed generation) still attractive?▼
Yes, even after Lei 14.300/2022 transition. The law phases in grid-use fees over 2023-2028, but already-installed systems grandfather in. New installs still deliver 4-6 year payback in most states. Market is moving to commercial/industrial (C&I) where economics are strong. JUSTSOLAR's 600W TOPCon is the sweet-spot for 1-5MW C&I projects.
Who are your Brazilian customers?▼
We supply EPCs doing 10-50 MW commercial/industrial projects, distributors in São Paulo/Minas Gerais/Paraná, and integrators in 20+ Brazilian states. Portuguese support via Frank on WhatsApp — fluent in Brazilian Portuguese business communication. Also see our Portuguese site for Brazil-specific content.
