South African buyers usually need NRCS/SANS evidence, port routing, and load-shedding-driven project economics before choosing a supplier. We prepare the buying file an EPC, distributor, or project owner needs before internal approval: landed-cost estimate, technical documents, compliance path, lead time, and container loading.

South Africa Solar Import FAQ
Do solar panels need NRCS approval for South Africa?▼
Yes. NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) mandates SANS 61215 and SANS 61730 certification for all solar modules sold in South Africa. JUSTSOLAR modules are tested to IEC 61215/61730 (equivalent to SANS) — we provide test reports and Letter of Authority pathway for NRCS compliance. Projects bidding in Renewable Energy IPP Programme (REIPPPP) require full compliance documentation.
What's the import duty and VAT on solar panels in South Africa?▼
Solar panels: currently 0% import duty under South Africa's tariff book (HS 8541.40.00). VAT: 15% on CIF value + duty. For REIPPPP projects, there may be additional SARS documentation. For C&I rooftop and residential, standard SARS nationalization applies.
Can JUSTSOLAR supply under the REIPPPP tender programme?▼
We work with EPCs bidding into REIPPPP and post-auction procurement. For utility-scale tenders (100+ MW), JUSTSOLAR can be Tier-1 adjacent with required bankability documentation — contact Frank with tender specifics and we'll advise fit.
What's the lead time from order to Durban?▼
Stock items: 5-7 days production + 35-40 days ocean freight to Durban = about 6 weeks total from PI payment confirmation to port arrival. Non-stock (build-to-order): add 3-4 weeks production. Add 1-2 weeks Durban port clearance + SARS documentation.
Are modules suitable for South African climate?▼
Absolutely. Our TOPCon modules are certified for harsh UV environments (IEC 61215 pass). For Northern Cape utility-scale (>40°C ambient), we recommend HJT 730W — better temperature coefficient (-0.24%/°C vs -0.29% TOPCon) means 3-5% more annual energy yield in hot conditions. For Cape Town / Gauteng moderate climate, standard TOPCon 600W/640W is optimal.
What payment terms do you offer South African buyers?▼
Payment terms are confirmed in the formal PI. For new South African buyers and most first orders, JUSTSOLAR uses 100% T/T before shipment. Any exception requires written approval from Frank and will be stated in the PI. Payments in USD or EUR — Rand denomination not accepted internationally.
Who are your South African customers?▼
We supply C&I EPCs (mining, retail, manufacturing rooftops), large distributors servicing installer networks, and utility-scale developers. Active in Western Cape, Gauteng, KZN, Free State, Mpumalanga. English support via Frank on WhatsApp — South African business culture is direct, our communication style matches.
