Record the selected three-letter rule, the geographically precise port, place or point and the 2020 edition. Then align the sale, carriage, insurance, customs, payment and document requirements instead of assuming one code binds every other party.
State whether the route is containerized, multimodal, road, rail, air, sea or inland waterway, and where the goods meet the first or nominated carrier.
A country or city alone can be ambiguous. Record the terminal, port, warehouse, site or other point and distinguish delivery from final destination.
Identify origin transport, main carriage, transshipment, destination handling, inland delivery and unloading responsibilities.
The parties should understand the selected rule's delivery point and risk transfer instead of treating the three-letter code as only a price label.
Record insurance expectations, export and import clearance, importer of record, broker, licences and any legal inability to perform a destination obligation.
Align the sale contract with carriage, insurance, payment and documentary requirements. Record the chosen rule, exact named point and Incoterms 2020 edition.
